House Shows

Convent Collective originated out of the phenomenon of House Shows. What better arena than the intimacy of your living room, corridor, roof, bedroom, or even kitchen to enjoy the sincerity of your best friend’s art? In actuality, inviting someoneĀ  to your home is one of the most effective methods towards drawing a dedicated fanbase. When done right, the art of hospitality far outshines any treatment one can expect at a bar or musical venue. Consequently, we believe it is important to engage a community out on the streets and inside of homes.

Convent Collective is dedicated to networking individuals and groups who are willing to play, host, or attend a house show.

Some general tips for hosting House Shows:

Know your audience! Who is coming, what needs will you have to cater to?

OK it with/Contact your neighbors! No one wants to live with the person who has ragers and is never invited. :]

Give your self at least a week or two to prepare. It takes time to promote, and last minute invites are not nearly as effective.

Maintain an open line of communication between the artist(s) and host(s). Last minute back-outs, not having necessary equipment, or a place to crash can be a real drag.

All Ages is a big plus, but remember fascist pigs are always looking for a reason to fill their little piggy banks.

Do not be afraid of disaster!
